On 17 – 18 January, the Dutch-German Forum 2017 took place in Berlin. It is a bilateral event supported by the Dutch and German Ministries of Foreign Affairs. For twenty years, the Dutch-German Forum has been serving as a civil society platform for exchange and discussions on current debates, which play a role in the bilateral relations and are of interest for both countries. Since 2012 the Schwarzkopf Foundation and the Dutch Embassy in Berlin organise a media seminar one day before the forum and open the Forum to more young minds and perspectives in Dutch and German relations.
The Dutch-German Forum 2017 discussed current challenges and changes under the overarching theme of “Destination Europe – Migration and Integration in Europe”. Starting one day prior the forum, twenty Dutch and German students already started their work on the topics of the seminar and participated in the forum the following two days. The forum brought together more than 200 participants from civil society and politics.
The students prepared the forum in an interactive seminar and then joined the forum – producing videos on European questions.
