The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a peer-to-peer educational programme that brings together over 30 000 young people from across Europe every year to debate the pressing issues of our time. Its mission is to inspire and empower young Europeans to become open-minded, tolerant and active citizens.
All activities of the EYP are driven by young people for young people.
International Sessions are the core of EYP activities, with a network of events that bring together young people from across Europe. Volunteers co-create and manage the sessions as a platform for debate on the pressing issues of our time. Through a genuinely hands-on experience, participants build mutual understanding, and acquire various skills.
BASES – Building a Strong European Society is a project by the European Youth Parliament in cooperation with the German Federal Foreign Office. It aims at enhancing dialogue and mutual understanding as well as broadening the cooperation among civil society in the countries of the Eastern Partnership.
“Power Shifts – Reflecting Europe’s Energy” is a project by the European Youth Parliament and the Schwarzkopf Foundation in cooperation with the Innogy Foundation for Energy and Society. It encourages young people from across Europe to explore and discuss European energy policy.
In interactive, four-hour seminars at schools run by young, peer-to-peer trainers, students explore the fundamental concepts of European politics. Students are engaged in open discussions about current European topics and encouraged to become active citizens.
We provide a forum for young Europeans to develop and express their own opinions on European political and social issues in an open and welcoming environment.
We promote intercultural dialogue and exchange through the sharing of ideas, opinions and practices to bring diverse young Europeans closer together.
We present young Europeans with diverse opportunities for personal and skills development through non-formal and peer-led educational activities.
We support a connected network of the next generation of diverse young leaders in Europe equipped with the knowledge and skills to positively shape the world around them.
The EYP is one of the largest European platforms for political debate, intercultural encounters, European civic education and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe.
Since its founding in 1987, hundreds of thousands of young people have taken part in regional, national and international sessions, formed friendships and made international contacts across and beyond borders.
The Presidents of the European Commission and the European Parliament are members of our Comité d’Honneur, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe has granted his patronage to all our activities.
