Based on the media habits of the participants, the four-hour course will deal with the influence and responsibility of the media and the representation of different perspectives in news coverage.
In the following one-hour discussion, journalists from the SPIEGEL complete the workshop with their practical experience and provide insights into journalistic ways of working. How is it decided what is reported? How is the search done? The journalists report on their daily work, answer questions and discuss their concerns and interests with the students. The duration of the course will be extended to five hours for this offer.
The “Good News!” courses are offered in the pilot regions of Hamburg, Berlin, Potsdam, Leipzig, Cologne and the Ruhr area.
The course concept follows the peer education approach. Young, specially trained trainers attend the schools directly in tandems and hold the workshop. The workshops are aimed primarily at vocational schools as well as integrated secondary schools. The offer is free for schools and youth groups.
The courses are conducted in cooperation with SPIEGEL Ed, the education initiative of SPIEGEL, and are part of the overall project “Understanding Europe” funded by Stiftung Mercator. Workshop modules will also be available as OER from 2020 onwards.
The courses and our trainer training are also held in 14 other European countries in cooperation with the European Youth Parliament. Your contact persons can be found here.
In cooperation with our young trainers we are continually expanding the seminars on offer. Write and tell us which topics you would like to have a workshop on.
