Young Islam Conference (JIK)
The Young Islam Conference (JIK) is a dialogue platform for young people, which addresses questions of constructive and equal living together in the migration society. The different formats of the JIK are directed to young people between the age of 17 and 25, regardless of their origin or religion. These include conferences, peer-based events and educational formats, advisory activities and networking. Topics such as plurality and belonging are discussed and enable a change of perspective between people from different backgrounds. The aim is to empower young people to participate in social and political discourses and to help shape an inclusive and diverse society.
The Young Islam Conference was founded in 2011 in Berlin as a project of Humboldt University and the Mercator Foundation. Since October 2019, the JIK is a project of the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe.
