Let's Talk: Berlin Before the Election – A Discussion by the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and ZLB

We are delighted to invite you to our event, "Let's Talk: Berlin Before the Election – A Discussion by the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and ZLB." The event will take place on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Pop-Up Hall of the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek, Blücherplatz 1, 10961 Berlin.

Rent is rising, the local youth centre is struggling to secure funding, and yet another S-Bahn train has been cancelled. Many of the issues that shape everyday life in Berlin are also at the centre of the election campaign. Political parties promise solutions—but which proposals are most likely to bring meaningful improvements for the people who live in the city?

Ahead of the Berlin House of Representatives election, we invite you to take a closer look at the parties‘ policies. Together with Berlin-based political journalists, we will discuss how the parties plan to address the housing and rent crisis, what their visions are for schools, youth services, and other public institutions, and how they imagine a city that is both functional and worth living in.

We are delighted to welcome you on 8 September 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Pop-Up Hall of the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek, where we look forward to discussing the current election campaign and the future of Berlin together.

Together with our guests and the audience, we will explore questions such as: What vision for Berlin’s future are the parties presenting during the election campaign? How do they plan to create affordable housing and ensure a city that is liveable for everyone? What will happen to schools, youth centres, and other public services as public budgets become tighter? How can Berlin remain a city with reliable public infrastructure in the years ahead? Which priorities do the parties set when financial resources are limited? And what would their plans mean for young people and for living together in Berlin?

We would be delighted to welcome you. Please register by 7 September 2026, either online or by email.

Accessibility: German Sign Language interpretation will be provided during the event.
