We are delighted to invite you to the discussion event ‘Pre-election evening USA: Who decides the election for themselves?’ with Dr. Laura von Daniels. The event will take place on 4 November 2024 at 5.30 pm at the Schwarzkopf Foundation.
On the eve of the US election, the country is facing one of the most exciting and unpredictable races in recent years. In a surprising turn of events, President Joe Biden – after widespread public criticism – has withdrawn his candidacy in favour of Kamala Harris, who has subsequently raised an unprecedented amount of donations in record time. This has turned the race for the presidency into a neck-and-neck duel between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Two attempted attacks on Donald Trump underline just how eventful the election campaign has been. Trump has the chance to move back into the White House and continue his policies, while Kamala Harris has the historic opportunity to make history as the first woman and first black woman president of the USA.
An analysis of the election campaign shows the dramatic developments and leaves open what will happen if Trump wins. Will he follow through on his controversial promises? Which key issues could significantly influence the outcome of the election? Which demographic groups could be decisive for Trump and Harris? What is the current mood in the swing states? What factors could ultimately decide the outcome of the election? What are Donald Trump’s political goals? If Kamala Harris wins the election, would she simply continue Joe Biden’s policies? Could there be unrest again after the elections?
We look forward to discussing these and other questions with you and Dr. Laura von Daniels, head of the America research group at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), on Monday, 4 November at 5:30 pm at the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe.
We look forward to your participation. We kindly ask you to register online by 03.11.2024.
