On Wednesday, July 5th, at 5:00 PM, the Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors will present their policy paper, „Towards a Sustainable Reconstruction of Ukraine: Youth Perspectives from Europe,“ at a public kickoff event held at the Representation of the European Commission in Berlin. We look forward to discussing ideas for the reconstruction of Ukraine together with you.
Although the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine continues, efforts to rebuild Ukraine are ongoing. In October last year, an international conference of experts to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine took place in Berlin at the invitation of the German G7 Presidency and the EU Commission. In this context, calls were made for a „new Marshall Plan for the 21st century“, with the help of which the reconstruction of Ukraine should be started now. At the same time, a multitude of different ideas and approaches exist on how to master the „mammoth task“ of reconstructing Ukraine.
The „Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors“ project of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) which is kindly supported by the E.ON foundation also deals with the question of how the reconstruction of Ukraine can succeed and offers a platform for the ideas of young people for the reconstruction of Ukraine. In this project, 20 young Europeans, more than half of whom come from Ukraine themselves, have developed innovative ideas on how an economic recovery and a rapprochement with the European Union can succeed while taking social and ecological aspects into account.
After a six-month process in which the Ambassadors discussed their vision and ideas for a sustainable reconstruction process, we would like to present the result paper of the Rebuild Ukraine Ambassadors at our event on 05.07.2023. We are also pleased to welcome Mr. Michael Roth, Member of the German Bundestag (SPD) and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee as well as Nataliya Pryhornytska, Co-founder and deputy chairwoman of the Open Platform e.V./ Allianz Ukrainischer Organisationen. Together with you and our guests we want to discuss the following and other questions: How should the reconstruction of Ukraine proceed? What are the different dimensions that need to be considered in the reconstruction process? What is already being done and how can Europeans support this process? What are the problem areas and what are the possibilities to solve them?
We look forward welcoming you to our event. It will be held in German with simultaneous English translation. We kindly ask you to register by 04.07.2023.
At the beginning of the event, Nora Hesse of the Representation of the European Commission in Berlin will give a welcome address.
