We are delighted to invite you to the discussion event ‘What is Europe for German foreign policy?’ with Thomas Bagger. The event will take place on 18 September 2024 at 5.30 pm at the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe, Sophienstraße 28/29, 10178 Berlin.
In times of global uncertainty and multiple crises, the question of Europe’s significance for German foreign policy is becoming increasingly urgent. Germany, as one of the central players in the European Union, is faced with the challenge of protecting national interests on the one hand and assuming a leading role in European cooperation on the other. This balance is of crucial importance for shaping a stable and sustainable EU, especially in the face of new geopolitical tensions and the threat of authoritarian regimes. In this context, the question arises as to what role Europe plays in the strategic orientation of German foreign policy. What priorities does Germany set in its cooperation with European partners? What principles does Germany follow in its European foreign policy? How can national and European interests be harmonised? How can Germany assume its responsibilities within the EU and at the same time strengthen cohesion? And what challenges and opportunities arise for Europe in the current global situation?
We look forward to welcoming Thomas Bagger, State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office, to the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe on Wednesday 18 September at 17:30.
We look forward to your participation. We kindly ask you to register online by 17 September 2024.
