Growth and Justice: How does effective climate action work?

We are delighted to invite you to the discussion event “Growth and Justice: How does effective climate action work?” The event will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 5:30 PM at taz Kantine, Friedrichstraße 21, 10169 Berlin.

Climate protection is one of the central political and societal challenges of our time. At the same time, we are experiencing a period of major international and European upheavals: economic uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and rising social expenditures are shaping the political agenda. In this context, the question of how public funds are allocated—whether for defense, infrastructure, or social security—is becoming increasingly important. With the new special fund, climate protection is now explicitly taken into account, creating space for sustainable investments.

But how can we ensure that these funds are used effectively? And how can we reconcile ecological transformation, social justice, and economic stability? These challenges affect politics, business, and civil society alike and require sustainable solutions.

Guests:

  • Danny Freymark, Member of the Berlin House of Representatives (CDU)
  • Nina Stahr, Chairwoman of the Green Party in Berlin
  • Carla Reemtsma, Spokesperson for Fridays for Future
  • Tilmann Friedrich, Member of the European Youth Parliament network

Key discussion points:

  • How can climate protection measures be designed to be both socially just and economically viable?
  • How can growth and climate protection be reconciled?
  • What responsibilities do politics, business, and civil society each bear?
  • What solutions does the younger generation propose for a fair climate policy?
  • We look forward to your participation and an engaging discussion!
