Your future, your choice: What plans do the parties have for the concerns of the younger generation?

We are delighted to welcome Lisa Paus, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens and Women and top candidate of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Berlin, Ruppert Stüwe, top candidate of the SPD in Berlin, Paulin Nusser, direct candidate of the FDP for the Treptow-Köpenick district, Franziska Dezember, direct candidate of the CDU for the Berlin-Pankow district and other representatives of the democratic parties to the Foundation on 17 February for a panel discussion on the 2025 Bundestag elections.

Following the end of the traffic light coalition, the election of the new Bundestag is due on 23 February 2025, and the parties are currently in the middle of an intense election campaign. Young people in particular are currently facing the future with uncertainty and often feel that they are not being listened to enough by current politicians. A study conducted by Bielefeld University in 2024 shows that 78 per cent of young people believe that their concerns are not given enough attention by politicians, and more than half criticise the lack of commitment to tackling social challenges. With this in mind, we would like to talk to the candidates for the Bundestag elections about the concerns of young people and what the parties are planning, especially with regard to the young generation, and how they are trying to respond to their wishes and concerns.

We are very pleased to welcome Lisa Paus, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and top candidate of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Berlin, Ruppert Stüwe, top candidate of the SPD in Berlin, Paulin Nusser, direct candidate of the FDP for the Treptow-Köpenick district, Franziska Dezember, direct candiate of the CDU for the Berlin-Pankow district and other representatives of the democratic parties to the Foundation on 17 February 2025 at 5.30 pm.

Together with you and our guests, we want to discuss the following and other questions What are the challenges facing young people today? How can we shape a political future for all of us? And how do the parties take the needs and wishes of the younger generation into account? What concrete measures are the parties planning to enable young people to have a good and secure future? How are the parties planning to tackle social challenges such as the lack of housing, climate change, inflation and growing social inequality? And how can politics be organised in such a way that young people feel taken seriously and represented?

We look forward to your participation. Please register online or by email by 16 February 2025.
