The European educational network supports young volunteers in their commitment to democracy, diversity and participation. Using a peer-to-peer approach, they bring democratic citizenship education into classrooms across Europe.
Are you between 18 and 27 years old and have ideas for creating workshops where young people can learn, discuss, and connect? Then apply to become one of Understanding Europe's 2025 Fellows and turn your ideas into action! Three Fellows will work on the different topics: transnational aolidarity and resilience amidst multiple crises, fundamental rights, and security. Deadline for applications is February 13.
Young Europeans have been facing multiple crises in the past decade—from a pandemic to war at our doorstep and beyond, to forest fires, floods, earthquakes, political shifts toward anti-democratic parties, and more. In these challenging times, how can we foster resilience, defend fundamental rights, build transnational solidarity, and ensure security for our communities across Europe and beyond?
In order to co-create answers to these questions together with young people, we award three fellowships for 2025 as part of our educational network Understanding Europe. Funded by the European Union and the Hertie Foundation, the programme focuses on three topics: transnational aolidarity and resilience amidst multiple crises, fundamental rights, and security. Each fellow develop a workshop on one of those topics, which will be published as open educational resource and used in Understanding Europe’s courses for school classes throughout Europe.
The fellowships are for young European educators (between 17 and 28 years old), who have ideas for creating spaces where young people can learn, discuss, and connect through workshops. Applicants should have an innovative vision for educational methodologies and practices around the three topics.
For the Fellows, the programme offers a distinct opportunity to professionalise in the area of non-formal education and format development and to contribute to the success of our course offer for schools. They receive financial support of €450 per month for a funding period from March to August as well as pedagogical counselling.
All respective information can be found in the call for applications. The application period ends on February 13, 2025.
