FOCUS project of the European Youth Parliament: Raising awareness on the Charter of Fundamental Rights

The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is excited to introduce the Promoting Fundamental Rights through Charter Use in Society (FOCUS) project, a transformative initiative dedicated to raising awareness of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (CFREU).

The FOCUS Project and the Charter of Fundamental Rights

This Charter safeguards a range of essential rights, from dignity and equality to freedom and justice. Yet, despite its importance, the Charter’s impact is limited by a lack of widespread knowledge and understanding. The FOCUS project is here to change that, giving young people across Europe the knowledge, tools, and confidence to engage with the rights enshrined in the Charter and use them more actively in their everyday lives.
By working closely with other civil society organisations that concentrate on different target groups, we hope to engage with as many groups of people as possible to raise awareness of the CFREU.

What’s Coming Up: Events and Resources to Get Involved

FOCUS is already in full swing, with workshops planned at EYP training events, where participants will have the opportunity to take a deep-dive into the CFREU, explore real-world applications, and build skills to become advocates for fundamental rights. But that’s just the beginning. EYP National Committees will be hosting their own YouthRights Dialogues, bringing rights-based discussions to communities across Europe. These efforts will culminate in a Youth Vision Booklet, a publication capturing young Europeans’ aspirations for a rights-conscious society.

Get Involved!

If you’re an organization or individual working in the field of human rights, the EYP would love to connect and explore collaboration opportunities. Together, we can turn the CFREU into a living, actionable document and empower a new generation of fundamental rights advocates to claim and defend their rights in everyday life.
