Apply now: Travel Grants for Young Europeans in 2023

At the Schwarzkopf Foundation, we strongly believe that every young person should have the chance to experience Europe, regardless of their social and regional background, financial means, or education. This is why we are thrilled to announce our travel grants for 2023!

Thanks to our partnership with Deutsche Bahn and Interrail, we are awarding Global Interrail Passes to young Europeans who will travel the continent independently and explore current political and social issues through reports and videos. These young individuals are the ones who boldly and creatively represent Europe, and in doing so, they make it more inclusive.

Our travel grants are explicitly intended to support young Europeans who have had limited or no opportunities to travel abroad. We strongly encourage applications from young people with migration and refugee backgrounds, from rural areas, from vocational schools, and with a secondary school diploma. These applicants will receive special consideration.

Please note that the travel grants do not cover accommodation, meals, or any costs for seat and/or night train reservations. All of these expenses must be paid by the grant holders themselves.

How and when to apply

We are interested in learning about your project plans and your background, as well as why this trip is important to you. Additionally, we value existing knowledge of video content creation and interest in political and social issues. The travel grant holders will be selected exclusively on the basis of the written online application. If you have previously received one of our travel grants, you cannot reapply.

We Strongly recommend everybody interested to carefully read our answeres to FAQs about the travel grants! The application period runs until May 31st, 2023 (23:59 CET) and has to be completed using this online form
